The National Football Stadium project has been nominated for the Building of the Year 2019 award, which was announced by the Association for the Development of Slovak Architecture and Construction – ABF Slovakia and one of the gestors is the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic. The results of the competition will be announced on 25.3.2020 during the Award Ceremony.

The expert jury focuses on the urban and architectural design, construction-technical solution, suitability of the use of materials and products (their craftsmanship and professional mastery in the construction of the work), the implementation of the construction, functionality and impact of the competition design on the environment and the overall social benefit of the construction work when assessing the buildings.

In addition to the main prize, there is also a People’s Choice Award, which is open to the general public. Voting for individual buildings is open until 22. March 2020 at https://stavbaroka.zoznam.sk.

The 22,500-seat stadium is built in full compliance with UEFA’s high standards with fully equipped facilities of an international standard. It is a multifunctional building that meets the demanding requirements for the organisation of other types of events. As the only one in Central Europe, its concept allows simplified handling during large musical productions by making the playing area passable for heavy vehicles on one side. The multifunctionality of the VIP grandstand allows for the organisation of various social events with a capacity of up to 2,500 participants. The VIP rooms are modularly divided into 5 independent and acoustically separated units. In addition to the latest audio, video and conference technologies, the large conference hall is also equipped with an audio loop for hearing-impaired participants.

The National Football Stadium project has already won the EFEKTIA award for energy efficiency.

Almost 50% of the heat and cold produced comes from renewable sources. The project uses the so-called. “energy removed” in the transition periods, when the different parts of the building will be able to heat or cool each other as needed.

Another award received is the TEKLA BIM AWARD for structural design and steel construction.
